JSE worked directly with Clarkson University, assisting with the MEP/FP design/modification of the existing Clarkson Hall facility. The project included roughly $5M in facility upgrades to support the growing Physical and Occupational Therapy Programs. The renovated area extended over 66,000 SF of floor space and included conversion of the buildings existing steam boiler plant to hot water, (4) New Rooftop units, (4) new Air handling units, baseboard perimeter heating along with a complete upgraded from pneumatic to DDC controls on all new and existing equipment. This project also included integration of daylight harvesting, data system infrastructure expansion, wireless access points, and sprinkler system modifications. Work also included detailed design and analysis to work around existing building constraints to ensure the required work could come in on budget and avoid field change orders due to unknown conditions. The project was designed and constructed under a condensed timeframe to along not only phasing of departments but to ensure new facilities were up and running before the new semester. The building remained occupied during the entire construction schedule which included abatement and extensive demolition.
