Manhattan Psychiatric Center – Generator Replacements

JSE Provided Mechanical and Electrical Design Services to this $15,000,000 Project

Manhattan Psychiatric Center is undergoing a project to replace its generators and the associated systems. Jade Stone will be providing Mechanical and Electrical design services to the project. JSE was tasked with the initial schematic design which analyzed four possible options for consideration by OMH/OGS. The project is currently awaiting approval to move into full design.

Design scope items include:

  • 2 new 1500kW diesel generators
  • Standalone medium voltage shelter to include a new 5kV main-tie gear configuration
  • Radio telemetry system to allow new gear to communicate with a downstream generator plant for load sharing capacity

The shelter will intercept and receive the existing (4) utility feeders from Con Edison. Upon completion, the system will be fully redundant, allowing for automatic live load exercising. In addition, a radio telemetry system will be introduced such that the new gear can communicate with a downstream generator plant for load sharing capability. The combination of these upgrades will result in a more modern and advanced system for the facility.
