JSE was tasked with evaluating the existing building systems (MEP&FP) and the requirements to accommodate a total HVAC replacement.
The Barrington Student Union has a central mechanical room on the upper floor with little accessibility and aging equipment that is past its useful life. A study was requested to get a better understanding of the scope of the work and potential replacement cost.
Work included a detailed check-list of building-wide requirements that would need to be met in order to accommodate the work. To ensure new equipment would fit in the existing mechanical room, JSE developed a 3D model via REVIT 2015 of the existing mechanical room equipment along with a potential new layout for the future systems.
Project Challenges:
Due to the location of the mechanical room and size of the equipment, the replacement and phasing was more complicated than a standard replacement project.
